Theft and Robbery

Retail theft, burglary, robbery, and related property charges. The grade of the charge and the county matter first.

The grade follows the dollar amount and the force

Retail theft is the search when the stop happened in a store. People want the dollar amount that changes the grade, and whether a first offense can be kept off a record. Robbery is a different search: it is a theft plus force or a threat. Burglary is the search when the charge says someone entered a building. Receiving stolen property is what people search when the allegation is that they had the item, not that they took it.

Send the store or address, the county, and the grade if it is on the paper. A retail-theft citation and a robbery complaint do not go to the same lawyer conversation.

What else gets typed

Related searches are “theft by unlawful taking,” “bad checks Pennsylvania,” and “identity theft charge.” The name of the charge on the complaint is more useful than a category.

Nothing on this page is a prediction of what a case is worth, and it is not legal advice. A message asks the desk to review the facts and refer them.

What to send

Retail theft, burglary, robbery, and related property charges. The grade of the charge and the county matter first.

The useful first facts are the place, the date, the court if there is one, and what happened. Records can wait until a lawyer asks for them.

How a referral works

A message asks the desk to read the facts and refer them to a lawyer who handles this work. It does not hire that lawyer, and it does not create an attorney-client relationship.

The lawyer who receives the introduction decides whether to take the matter and talks with you about deadlines and fees.
